Functions of Saw Palmetto in the body
- Supports prostate health in men
- Supports healthy sexual function in both men and women
As men age, the cells in their prostate gland can begin to overgrow and this will cause swelling that obstructs the bladder, resulting in slow urination and emptying of the bladder. This non-malignant enlargement of the prostate puts pressure on the urethra, making the urinary stream weak, uncomfortable and hesitant. Other symptoms are frequency and urgency to urinate during the night, resulting in disturbed sleep.
Men aged 31 to 40 have approximately an 8% chance of having benign prostate enlargement, whereas the risk increases to 40-50% in men aged 51 to 60, and to over 80% in men older than 80.
Note: If you have any sex hormone-related issues or disorders or are taking the birth control pill check with your doctor before initiation.
